What is an essay?

According to the dictionary, an essay is a piece of writing that gives you thoughts about a subject. An essay usually consists of five or more paragraphs. An introductory, 3 body paragraphs, and a concluding. To me, however, an essay is much more. An essay is a piece of writing that has infinite possibilities. You can write about anything and everything and nobody judges you because it's your own thoughts.
